In the Beginning....

Welcome to my Motyvation page!

I am currently an active duty hospital corpsman in the United States Navy. If you want to get more specific, I am a Psychiatric Technician, which is one of the many follow on schools one can pursue as a Corpsman.

I started a blog many years ago about books but since things change in everyone's life, especially  mine since I am in the military, I wanted to document my success and downfall in my goal of getting back into Navy fitness standards. I know, I know. It seems ridiculous that I'm just another person posting about some stupid weight loss thing. But I'm sure this can help you, if I can figure out to help myself out. So this is basically going to be a lengthy process.

In the military, if a service member is out of standards, they are automatically put in a program called FEP. One of the military's many acronyms that no one really knows the real meaning of. There are three ways to get on the program.
1. Fail a portion of the Navy's Physical Fitness Assessment. (i.e. sit ups X 2 min., push ups X 2 min., or 1.5 mile run.)
2. Fail your Body Composition Assessment (i.e. the limit for males is 20% body fat and females is 33% anything over and you're out of standards.)
3. Volunteer yourself if you think you need help/Command directed.

My lucky self failed my BCA. For my age and height, the limit on my body fat is 33%. I came in at 36%. So that is definitely not in standards. Now to be fair, I am not a skinny "fit/perfect" person. I have curves. Curves in my ass, chest, stomach, thighs all over. I'm healthy but not fat. The Navy doesn't care about what you are, it just cares about numbers. And numbers say that I am fat.

No biggie, Navy. Roger that. So now I am on FEP. Oh joy!
I have to work out three times a week with specific people (called CFL's/ACFL's - Command Fitness Leaders) and they document that I worked out. Now, since I am a BCA failure, I also have to weigh in every week.

I joined Weight Watchers to watch my eating. And I've started Insanity but this whole FEP business starts on 05NOV2012. Which is the day I just happen to have Special Liberty, basically a day off. Ohhh yeah.

So, I just wanted to explain where I'm coming from. Whether its just for myself or anyone else who is reading this. But I'm starting now. Because i'm a bad-ass who can do this. I have to be able to do this.
